"Drought" Music Video RELEASED!

August 28, 2012

SOO… I’m SUPER excited to release my 1st official music video! I can’t believe it! It still seems surreal. We flew out to southern California a few weeks ago, to Palm Desert, to shoot this video in its ideal setting… the desert. Matt Brue of Capture Film Co. filmed the video, his beautiful wife, Faith Brue of Style Architects, styled me, and my incredible husband Spencer Combs took some awesome pictures! We all had an absolute blast. There will be a Behind the Scenes video available at some point of all the crazy obstacles and adventures we encountered along the way.

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE!

You can download the song “Drought” for FREE until August 31st HERE!

The awesome Erik Dylan co-wrote this song with me and Zach Parnell of Toneflood Studio recorded it! Zach always does such an incredible job with all of my songs!

Thank you all SO much for watching! PLEASE share it with as many friends and family as possible!

Alex

April's FREE song, "Diamond Ring"

April 26, 2012

I started writing “Diamond Ring” when one of my closest friends was heartbroken after breaking up with a guy she thought she was going to marry. She thought he was her forever, her diamond ring, and I wanted to comfort her and let her know that there is another guy out there waiting for her, who will be her diamond ring. I think most of us, guys and girls, have been in at least one relationship that we think is going to last forever, but then it just falls apart. I hope this song speaks to all of you who have been in this position, are in it right now, or will be in it in the future. Download “Diamond Ring” HERE for FREE until April 30th.

I co-wrote the song with my friends Emily Shackelton and Kelly Archer, who are both incredible songwriters based in Nashville. Whenever the three of us get together, I ALWAYS love the result!

Please help me spread the word about the FREE download of this song by telling all of your friends and family! This song will only be free until April 30th!

On a different note, my band and I played a show this past Monday (April 23rd) at the Fine Line in Minneapolis, and it went SO well! It was the best show we’ve ever played together! All of us were just spot on. Thank you to all of you who came out to see us that night! We had an absolute blast and we hope you did too! Keep checking back on my website for upcoming shows.

Thank you SO much! I love you all!

Alex

P.S. Can’t wait for you to hear May’s song!!!

TopBlip Contest Winner – Opening for Dave Barnes and Andrew Ripp

March 21, 2012

I entered a video contest through TopBlip to get to open for Dave Barnes and Andrew Ripp for Dave’s “Stories to Tell” tour at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN. Thanks to all of my amazing friends and family, the TopBlip team, and Dave Barnes, I won the competition! The show was an absolute blast and meeting Dave and Andrew was so great! They are both awesome artists and songwriters, and I was honored to get to participate in a night of music with them. There were about 400-500 people there when I played, which is the largest crowd I’ve played for in quite a while.

So… to everyone who voted and helped spread the word, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! You guys ROCK! I appreciate your time, energy, and support SO much!

You can watch the 3 videos that I entered into the contest for each round: “Long Past Long Gone” (Alex Masters Original), “Strawberry Wine” (Deana Carter Cover), “On A Night Like This” (Dave Barnes Cover)

I would also like to thank Paula Shipman, at the Clarke Daily News, for posting such a great article about the competition. I grew up in Clarke County in Berryville, VA, so anytime my hometown supports me, it’s one of the best feelings!

Thank you all again! I’m so grateful for all of your love and encouragement! This was SUCH a great experience!

"Long Way Home" on the Radio!

January 14, 2012

On Monday, January 9th, I heard one of my songs on the radio for the first time! It was one of the most exciting moments of my life so far! KDOL Radio is a station located right outside of Houston, TX, and they played “Long Way Home” as part of their Home Grown Music Show. The Home Grown Show “is a show dedicated to every new and upcoming Country Music Artist.” It’s such a great opportunity for rising artists and I am SO thankful I got to be a part of it! I think there is a possibility they may play “Long Way Home” again this coming Monday between 7-8pm CST, so listen in! If you do get a chance to hear me on KDOL, I would LOVE for you to let them know what you think of “Long Way Home” on their Facebook page. Thank you KDOL and thank you to everyone listening!

Thank you also to Tim at Shared Music Review, who pitched my music to KDOL and got me on the radio! Shared Music Review is a great site where music lovers listen, rate and review artists/bands. I’d LOVE if you would take a second to rate and review me on their site!

If you don’t have “Long Way Home” yet, you can get it on iTunes here.

Happy 2012 everyone!

Alex

NEW PROJECT! Twelve in Twelve!

January 2, 2012

I have been SOOO excited to announce this new project, and now I finally get to!

For 2012, I wanted to do something out of the norm, so my husband, my band and I came up with the concept for 12 in 12 (12 songs in 12 months). I will be recording and releasing 1 new song, every month, for a year. Each song will be FREE for the month it’s released and then will become available on iTunes. You can download the songs each month right here. I am so excited to go on this journey with you!

I write, record, and perform songs, not only because it’s who I am, but because I want to touch people’s hearts with my stories and experiences. I hope my songs will always bring healing to people going through hard times and fun and laughter to the happier moments in life. I wake up every morning knowing that I’m going to love what I do that day, because it involves pursuing my dreams. I think so many of us have dreams that we never pursue because it doesn’t seem practical or logical, and fear gets in the way. I hope my music will inspire you to follow your dreams, to do what inspires you, because there’s nothing more beautiful than a person living his/her passion.

So here’s to following our dreams in 2012!

Love,

Alex
